I am having problems with my landlord someone please help?

We never had problems with our landlord for the three years we have lived here everything started at the end of March my landlord came to my apartment without notice with her brother that lives down stairs demanding more money for rent we pay our portion of rent and section 8 pays the rest total $1,700 and she wanted $125 dollars more for rent, I asked her if she was serious she replied that she pays more money on taxes and that I receive more money from ssi so I have to pay more. I let her know that she would be taking food from my Sons mouth and mine just to pay her that extra money she replied that was not her problem. So I said to her that she has to report it to section 8 she said NO that she is not reporting nothing to no one and for me not to report anything to section 8 as well. She wanted the rent by April 1st otherwise we have to move I told my worker about this and she said not to pay what the landlord was asking for better of finding a place and move but that was all she could tell us and for me to look up the tenant laws on the internet. We have been looking for a place to live for over a year now and no luck. In April someone from City Hall in Massachusetts came knocking on our door my mom answered it was board of health screaming to my mother thinking she was the landlord he said "I know you have an illegal apartment downstairs" my mom said she was not the landlord then he changed his tone he asked "is there anything wrong with the apartment" I said yes that the water turns cold after 10 minutes of showering and at that moment my mom turned me around and undid my hair that was in a bun and showed him how long was my hair almost to my knees letting him understand that 10 minutes is not enough, the inspectors answered "so cut your hair and problem solved" I could not believe his answer I could not answer back i was speechless but anyways he left after that. A few days latter my landlord arrives knocking at the door so loud as if she wanted to knock it down I opened the door she made herself welcome I said excuse me this is not a good time she did not care she started screaming saying "you people how could you do such thing report me to the board of health" I tried to tell her "it was not us it must have been someone else who new that you had an illegal apartment" she did not want to hear us she left upset and angry saying "I will find out if it was you people" after that we have been living a nightmare my Son crying asking me why are does people calling you and grandma bad names words my Son has never heard before. There was a older gentlemen visiting the landlords brother and uncle downstairs everyday I did not now who he was until latter on found out that he was a retired police officer the landlords family member, the things I have heard this man say and the only reason I heard him was because the floor that separates the apartments has bad insulation and you can hear everything that happens downstairs upstairs and Viceversa, one of the things was "don't worry I will take care of everything you have nothing to worry about" other things "I agree with you does F@*#ing immigrants they receive section 8 rent apartments then try to take the house away" "don't worry I will investigate them" Does are some of the things we hear about us. Last week the guy from downstairs came and said to clear out the build in cabinet that was all he said next day 5/17/11 contractors knocked on the hallway door, the hallway door connects upstairs to downstairs it goes thru our apartment anyway, he knocked and make himself welcome and started demolition cutting out the cabinet while my son my mom and myself were sitting in the kitchen eating dust flying all over the place on our food our furniture and kitchen counter-tops dust everywhere even in our nose and mouth I had to take my son to the clinic because he was sick and the dust made it worse he was coughing with out stop my mom screamed at them and they left. Then on friday 5/20/11 they shut the water off for 6 hours know tomorrow they want to shut of our electricity for 6 hours OR MORE let me say that tomorrow is going to be 86 degrees outside and very humid and the food in our refrigerator is going to spoil. I really don't know what to do because my mom cannot stay without air-conditioning she has a heart problem and had a heart attack in the winter time because of the landlord in the winter the landlord was responsible for the snow removal and no one would shovel so my mom had to and because of that she ended up in the hospital with a heart attack so know the landlord is doing all of this things so we can move out sooner that is what it looks like from my point of view. Sorry to all for such long writing this is only half of the story but I do not have enough space once again sorry and Thank You for taking your time to help.
