Did health insurance just increase or is it just me . . .?

I just left one company for another. I was paying $250/mo for me & my husband. The same exact plan through my new company is going to cost me $543/mo and it's a crappy plan at that. It's a value HMO. My new company said that they do cover a percentage but it's because rates went up for 2011 and also they're not going to be under the huge family of companies anymore, they're going on their own as their own company so it's more. But really? Could it have gone up THAT much or are they just not paying for any of it at all? I live in CA if that matters. Thanks!!
