What Frame Rate and Aspect Ratio should I use for my iMovie project?

I'm doing a video on iMovie by Apple. And every time I make a video and I put it on a DVD and I watch it on a television, the edges of the video gets cut. I always use iDVD to make my dvd's so I don't know if maybe that could be the problem. Please help me out? thanks!
